DOMercuryThumbdrivePackage2.7 on a very locked down terminal server

Hi,

First this app kicks butt and I install it every where I go.

I am trying to run the DOMercuryThumbdrivePackage2.7 on a very locked down terminal server and
I am getting some errors.When I first launched the package form my terminal server desktop I get a
splash screen and then nothing.

When I move the package to a network drive I get the Splash and a tray icon but this error as well

The only thing not to like on DOMercury is lack of further development and some critical shortcoming that stops me from running it at work. But I see now Dom has resurfaced. Welcome back Dom.

My inability to have it run at work has had me searching for a windows replacement but DOMercury is the only one out there (IMO) that gives Quicksilver level of functionality.

If you read this Dom, could you tell us why it is called DOMercury?

Feature Request: Support for screen DPI higher than 96

Please add support for screens with DPI set higher than 96. I run 1920x1200 screen resolution at 120 DPI and the DOMercury splashscreen and all skins have display problems. **See my post about this issue in the DOMercury questions and troubleshooting forum section**

Splashscreen and all skins are larger (tiled) on laptop, normal on desktop

I've been using DOMercury for a few weeks now and love it. I have it installed on my work computer, personal laptop and my flash drive. At work DOMercury works fine but when I run it on my laptop the splashscreen and any skin I try is larger than shown on your website and part of the image is tiled.

The two main differences between my work computer and personal laptop is the screen resolution and the .NET version. At work I run 1024x768 and .NET 2.0, but my laptop is 1920x1200 and .NET 3.5.

>>Correction: It seems that at work the resolution is set at 1280x1024 and I do have .NET 3.5 installed. DOMercury runs and looks as expected for both installed and thumbdrive versions on my work system. I'm running v2.7 on both computers and thumbdrive.

DoMercury won't start

Hi, I've just downloaded and installed DOMercury. I then tried to find its entry in the Start menu but couldn't find DomSoft->DOMercury. I only found a link in the Startup entry and tried to launch DOMercury from there. I saw a splash screen but then nothing happened. I tried the WIndows + Z key combination, but no luck. There's not tray icon either. I'm on Windows XP Pro SP3 Russian Edition with .NET 3.5 SP1.

Portable DOMercury won't start

I just installed DOMercury portable edition into D:\bin\DOMercury\

I then launched D:\bin\DOMercury\DOMercury.exe

It will crash immediately and the D:\bin\DOMercury\errorlog.log shows :

Metallic Skin faulty

Dominick,

Liked the "Metallic" skin a lot.
But there are typos in the .skin file, so users won't be able to use the skin as downloaded from your site.

Following line from the Skins file needs to be updated.

Original/Faulty:
BackPanelImage:Skins/Mettalic/Mettalic.png

Fixed:
BackPanelImage:Skins/Metallic/Metallic.png

Other option of course is to rename the folder and filename to match the one listed in the .skin file.

Feature request: FirefoxBookmarksPlugin - Editable location of bookmarks.html

Hello,

I am using K-Meleon browser, which is Mozilla based browser. The FirefoxBookmarks plugin is detecting the location

of Firefox bookmarks.html file automatically, as I understand.

I would like to be able to specify the path to the bookmarks.html file in plugin settings, as K-Meleon uses different directory

for storing its profiles than Firefox.

The format of K-Meleon bookmarks.html file is the same as that of Firefox, so there should be no need for any parsing adjustments.

I believe this would also help users using some sort of portable Firefox installations where the location of profile directory

is perhaps also different.

Very impressive, but one or two small problems

Hi,

I have just installed your program and it is a very impressive and useful utility.

I have run into a couple of problems however that you might be able to help with.

1. The following two entries are in the default DOMercuryAliases.xml file. When DOMercury starts up it generates an error saying that Aliases XML file is corrupt and cannot be loaded. If you remove the following two lines from the file, th eprogram starts with no errors and all Aliases are loaded. I cannot see what is wrong, unless the XML parser is trying to interpret the & characters as control codes such as &amp.

2. The Cancel buttons in the Options screen, and various Plug in options windows doesn't seem to do anything (unless I am misunderstanding what it does, but I expected it to close the window without saving the changes).

3. Clicking the Options button for the Parameter Providers list when there is nothing in the list generates an Unhandled .NET Exception "Object not set to an instance of an object"

Apart from that it works very well, and the plans for version 3.0 (WPF) sound interesting and I look forward to using it

First, that's a full list of changes! Cool! It is noticeably faster

Second: Options form shows v2.4.0.0, and I get the dialog box that says there's a newer version...but I just downloaded 2.7...

Third: could you confirm that editing an existing alias works? I just tried editing one, and though the value updated in the Options window, the file was not touched even after I confirmed the dialog.

Forth: Out with the WPF already! Jeez! ;)

Fifth:

Eliminated re-indexing time period where plugin items do not show up in index and priorities are not set

Dude, nice. When'd you get the epiphany to fix this one?

How to search folders under My Documents ?

"My Documents" are automatically searched by DOMyDocuments Plugin. This is different plugin from FolderIndexor.

How do I search the folders under "My Documents" ?

The "Options" button is disabled for DOMyDocuments Plugin.

I tried explicitely adding the path to "My documents" folder in FolderIndexor plugin and checking "include subfolders", but didn't work (I tried in v2.5)

Unhandled Exception in V2.6

I use Domercury on my laptop. I noticed that since I upgraed to v2.6, I've started seeing an excpetion related to "background worker"

This happens when I resume from hibernate state. (But not every time i resume from hibernate)

I get an option to "Continue or quit". Choosing "continue" seems to be OK, and I can keep using DOMercury without any problems (Not any visible problems, at least)

I never had this problem in earlier releases.

How to search multiple extensions inside a folder

Say I want to DOMercury to search all .exe and .bat files from specific folder. Currently I have created two enties. One for .exe and one for .bat. Only other option I thought was *.*, but then I'll get a lot of unwanted entried as well.

Is there a way to specify the list of extension using comma separated entries like *.exe, *.bat ?

The GUI for folderIndexor plugin's options dialog doesn't look to be extensible. Similar dialog for Launchy is designed better.

Strange Installation Issues (probably not DOMercury-specific), plugin DLL reinstated

I first installed DOMercury 2.6.0.0 a few days ago using the MSI Installer, and after addressing a couple of packaging issues (the default Aliases file is broken), the program ran fine.

A couple of days later I decided to remove the DOMyDocuments plugin, so I simply deleted it from "C:\Program Files\DomSoft\DOMercury\Plugins".

The next time I ran DOMercury from the start menu ("Startup" group), I got a little windows installer dialog very briefly before DOMercury loaded - next time I checked the plugins folder, the DOMyDocuments plugin was back. I thought it was my mistake, so I deleted it again, and again I got the installer pop-up as I was running DOMercury the next time.

I figured that somehow the installer was detecting the missing DLL and replacing it, so I deleted the Installer from my desktop, and now when I run from the start menu the installer asks for the MSI file, and fails to even run DOMercury when I cancel the installation process.

The really interesting thing is that if I run the DOMercury.exe file from "C:\Program Files\DomSoft" directly by double-clicking it, it loads fine (without the DOMyDocuments plugin, of course).

I know I could probably fix this by deleting the old shortcut fro teh start menu and creating a new one, but before I do that - does anyone know what causes this "auto-installation-fix" behaviour and how to prevent / guarantee / control it?

Ignore a Directory?!

Hi,

Just found DoMercury after being a Quicksilver user for some time - it really is a great Windows equivalent. One thing I have noticed however is that the indexer "grabs" alot of my mp3 files (admittedly they are poorly named etc) instead of the application I am looking for.

Is there any way to instruct the File Indexer to actually ignore a directory? If not, can it be added to the fetaure request list please.

Use your own System Tray icon for DOMercury 2.6

New in DOMercury Version 2.6 :
If you replace tray.ico with your own icon, and restart DOMercury, then it uses this new icon in system tray, as well as when Options keyword is selected in DOMercury.

e.g If you have myicon.ico file, rename it to tray.ico and copy to DOMercury installation folder. (Rename original tray.ico to something like "origtray.ico", before you overwrite tray.ico, just to be safer.) It is important to restart DOMercury for this to take effect.

I had asked Dominic for this, and he has done it.
